How to remove candle wax stains from a tablecloth

 Normally the first thought we might have is that it's completely ruined and that removing these stains will be an almost impossible task. But the truth is that removing wax is not as difficult as it seems.

Today, we bring you several useful tips you can use to remove wax stains from your tablecloth.

First, it's important to note that it's best to prevent stains rather than remove them.

That's why, with our stain-resistant coated tablecloths, forget about stains, as they don't get dirty!

The first thing you should do is act fast; the more time passes, the easier the stains adhere to the fabric.

1. Use cold to harden the wax:

• When cold is applied, either with ice or by placing the tablecloth in the freezer, the wax hardens. This occurs because wax molecules, which are liquid at room temperature, solidify and contract as the temperature drops.
  
  This way you'll get the wax to cool, harden, and you can remove it with a spatula shortly after.
  
  
• The cooling technique is especially effective on paraffin-based waxes, common in many candles, due to their low melting point.
  
  

2. Absorb wax with paper and heat:

• By applying heat over an absorbent paper placed on the wax stain, the wax melts and is absorbed by the paper. 
  
  
• It is important to use a moderate temperature to prevent the wax from spreading further into the tablecloth fabric.
  
  

3. Use alcohol

• Isopropyl alcohol will be a great ally. After removing the excess wax, apply a little alcohol to the stain and let it sit for half an hour.
  
  Then, with the help of a brush, remove the excess wax, rinse with plenty of water (preferably warm), and you can wash it using a soap with your preferred scent to remove the alcohol smell.
  
  
• You can also make a mixture with one part alcohol and two parts water. 
  
  You should gently rub the stain with the help of a sponge, then wipe the area with a cloth to absorb the excess mixture and see if the stain has been completely removed.
  
  You can repeat this step as many times as necessary. Then, rinse with water using the sponge, but make sure no alcohol remains. 
  
  If you want, you can add a little soap to make the cleaning more effective.
  
  

4. Use baking soda

• If the oil stain left by the candle does not come off, you can use baking soda. 
  
  Put it on the affected area and let it act for a couple of hours to absorb the grease. Rub with the help of a brush or a cloth, and rinse as usual. 
  
  
• If your tablecloth is made of cotton or white linen, instead of using an iron, you can melt the wax with boiling water.

• Something you should try, which will also add a very special touch to your table, is to place a long mirror under the candles. 
  
  The flame will reflect in the mirror and create a super romantic effect, which will also help protect your tablecloth from melting wax.
  
  
• You have to try our custom-made resin-coated tablecloths. If a wax stain falls, you can remove it with a damp cloth and you won't have to wash it. You will never have this problem again.
