How to wash a stain-resistant tablecloth in 3 steps
What if I told you that you can have a beautiful and practical tablecloth at the same time? Because yes, stain-resistant tablecloths exist... and they are a godsend. But they also have their secrets. Today I'm going to tell you how to wash a stain-resistant tablecloth correctly, without ruining the magic.
Step 1. Read the label (yes, actually read it)
To wash a stain-resistant tablecloth correctly, we must take into account what its label says. Each stain-resistant fabric has its own instructions: some are resin-coated, others have Teflon, others are technical blends.
At La Compañía Francesa, stain-resistant tablecloths have a linen or cotton base with a special liquid-repellent treatment, and should be handled with care.
Look for symbols such as:
Maximum recommended temperature (30ºC)
Do not bleach
Do not tumble dry
Iron gently on the reverse side only.
Step 2: Washing a stain-resistant tablecloth in the washing machine
You can do it without a problem, but with care. This is how I do it:
Temperature: ideally 30°C. If you set it to 60ºC, goodbye treatment.
Detergent: neutral, liquid, without enzymes or bleaches.
Program: short and delicate (I use the one for baby clothes or synthetic garments).
No fabric softener: it may seem unbelievable, but fabric softener cancels out the stain-resistant layer.
What if it has a stubborn stain before putting it in? You can pre-treat it with water and a little neutral soap. No scourers, please. And if it resists, this guide will come in handy:

Step 3: Drying the stain-resistant tablecloth
Just as it is important to wash it correctly, drying it is also important:
Do not use a tumble dryer. Direct and prolonged heat can break the stain-resistant protection.
Hang it stretched out, without folds. I usually hang it out flat or even leave it on the table with a cloth underneath so it doesn't leave marks.
My trick: I remove it when it's still a little damp, stretch it out well... and it's ready!
Your tablecloth is like new again and the treatment continues to work.
No stains, no dramas. Just beautiful, clean tables.
