How to decorate a country house to always feel like you're on vacation

Decorating a country house is not just about placing beautiful furniture, but about creating a space that invites you to relax, disconnect, and above all, makes you feel at one with nature. If you don't know where to start, I always recommend starting with a beautiful table setting. Then, I'll leave you with some tips I've used myself (and that work wonderfully in my country house, I can vouch for it!).

The key is natural materials

A country house should breathe nature. Opt for materials like wood, stone, or clay for the floor. Additionally, I recommend natural textiles such as linen tablecloths. They are perfect for giving that rustic touch without sacrificing elegance. My favorite is a beige tablecloth that I use both in the dining room and in the garden, a great choice for being such a versatile shade.

Furniture with history, but without overwhelming

There's nothing like mixing antique furniture with more modern pieces. I like that combination; for example, in the kitchen, I have a sturdy wooden table that belonged to my grandmother, but I've paired it with lighter chairs so as not to overpower the space. To add a special touch, I add soft cushions in neutral and earthy tones, like the linen cushions you can find at La Compañía Francesa. They are perfect for adding warmth without sacrificing freshness.

Warm and inviting textiles

In a country house, plaids and blankets are a must. A Baby Alpaca blanket is ideal for those cooler nights. I have one in the living room that I always end up using when I sit down to read a book; it's so soft I can't resist! Blankets don't just decorate; they also make the space cozy.

Colors that connect with the environment

When choosing colors, take inspiration from nature. Earth tones, beige, and soft greens, as I mentioned, are perfect. In my living room, I use linen cushions in gray tones that match the stone walls, but you can add touches of color with ceramic vases filled with wildflowers or preserved flowers. It's the small details that make all the difference.

Elements that make life easier

An essential for meals at the country house is a good crystal water pitcher. It's an elegant and practical combination that brings a rustic style to the table. And if you're thinking about an outdoor meal, don't hesitate to use a coated tablecloth. It's easy to clean and has beautiful prints!

Remember, decorating a country house is more than aesthetics; it's about creating a refuge that connects you with the essentials. With these small details, your house will be the perfect place to escape stress, and always with that personal touch we love so much. Enjoy the countryside in style!
